Cheng Beng Rituals on Earth Day

Today I went to up to Kek Lok Si temple (largest Buddha temple in Penang) for our annual chinese rituals which is Cheng Beng or a ceremony for paying a visit to the deceased elderly. It has been our traditions for all of our family members including all youngster like ME and seniors to get together once a while also as a type of reunion to catch up with all the hottest news and juiciest gossips among our Tan family members.

This year my dad and sister will be joining this Cheng Beng with the other members from our Tan family members. Since I am not going back hometown as my dad refrained me to drive back all the way back to from Penang to Nibong Tebal ( my sweet hometown) and drive back again to Kek Lok Si temple instead they asked me to join them on the way after they finished visiting my deceased grandpa’s and ancestors’ memorial graveyard in Sungai Bakap, Penang and meet them up at E-Gate Jelutong, Penang.

Earth Hour Malaysia 2009

March 18th, 2009

In conjunction with Earth Day 2009 on April 22 with their theme this year, The Green Generation. We, Malaysia is not losing out our part in paying our respect to Mother Earth. On 28th of March, 5 millions Malaysian will pledged their support for helping to save the energy by turning of the lights for 1 hour started from 8.30pm to 9.30pm.

This event is organised by WWF Malaysia and Microsoft Malaysia together with joining force of famous local celebrities, journalist, TV icons, radio deejays such as Maya Karin, Reshmonu, Sarimah Ibrahim, Lina Teoh, Hans Isaac, Royce Tan, Karam Singh Walia and lots more for making this global event a success. Even severals our local landmarks such as KL Twin Tower and Penang Bridge are expected to be joining this event by shutting of the lights of the buildings for 1 hours. However, it was yet to confirmed as it would require local authorities approval and taking concern of the safety for main priority.
