Remove Babylon Search on Firefox 4 Address Bar

Now if you have just installed the latest official release of  Firefox 4 version, there are chances are you might ends up like me having the stupid crap Babylon search engine as the default search engine provider on my Firefox 4 address bar. I believe it was not the faults of the Mozilla. I must have installed some shitty malware on laptop. Darn, I am going to get this laptop cleaned soon.

Anyhow, I have always used to type my search keywords on the address bar and use it as my Google. Google has always been my favorite search engine and will always be. What else comes near to Google, right?

It took me awhile as I had no time to Google around and play with Firefox registry to get this removed and today I am sorta frustrated and decided to get this freakish Babylon search engine off my laptop for good.

I found 2 methods to remove that Babylon search engine off my address bar nonetheless.

Method 1:

1. Go to C:Program FilesMozilla Firefoxsearchplugins on your Windows PC. I believe it is the same path if you are using Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7.

2. Find that file named “babylon” and delete the hell out from there.

3. Restart your Firefox and try on any keyword the address bar and you will be likely to get a squeaky clean result like below without search engine provider

Method 2:

1. In Firefox address bar type “about:config” (without the double quotes) in the address bar and press ENTER.

2. You will be then see a warning page with title “This might void your warranty!” . By the way, do we have warranty for installing Firefox? You must be kidding me.

3. Just click the hell “I’ll be careful, I promise”. Whatever…

4. Locate and double-click the entry for “keyword.URL”

5. Double click the entry you found and enter http://www.google.com/search?&q= . You can have other search engine provider as well.

Yahoo: http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=
Ask: http://www.ask.com/web?q=
Bing: http://www.bing.com/search?&q=

Done. Now you can own back the address bar you always wanted. And Google, I love you.
